Hello All,
After being a bit of a leech on beauty blogging world (you know, consuming all the information without actually ever posting or commenting), I've decided to bite the bullet and actually start blogging.
I've decided as a first post to do somewhat of a "controversial" post (yes, I did just refer to some beauty products as controversial) and do something similar to a "don't believe the hype" tag.
So without further rambling from me, I'm going to introduce the two products; Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation and a YSL Rouge Volupte Lipstick. I know, I know shock horror right? But I really just do not get on well with these products.
I'll start with probably the biggest shocker, the YSL lipstick. I was browsing duty free on the way home from holiday this summer and had heard so many good things about this product that I couldn't resist picking one up. Being a huge neutral make up lover I opted for the least "offensive" nude shade in what I think is 2 (numbers rubbed off the bottom and they don't put names on them! grr!)
I think the biggest problem I have with these is the thing people love best about them, the formula. It is uber creamy and instead of that being a savior for my dry lips it sits in the cracks and looks awful! Not to mention the colour is horrible on me, I bought it thinking once my tan faded it would be ok....oh how wrong I was.
Next is the Chanel foundation.
Now I've never actually tried a Chanel foundation because I always thought they were too much coverage for me, (I'm more of a tinted moisturiser, Mac Face and Body on night's out kinda gal), so when this came out and everyone was raving about it being a "second skin" on them I thought brilliant! However this formula sits awfully on my dry skin and looks like a mask because it just doesn't seem to blend well and therefore it looks incredibly unatural.
Oh and I'm probably not the only person to whinge about this but the Chanel foundations seem to come in a really limited shade range, I've got mine in 50 Beige Sienne, which I bought in the spring when I didn't have much of a tan and my skin tone changes pretty drastically in the sun so I know for a fact that there wouldn't be a shade to match me when I have a full on tan. Not to mention girls who are naturally much darker skin toned! With a £31 price tag it's safe to say I'm gutted that I really don't like this!
So, after all of that rambling on I'd just like to say that I hope you enjoyed that post and found it helpful in some way :)
If you've got any tips to using these and getting them to work please let me know in the comments!
Bye! <3

aw thanks so much for your comment! really means a lot! just had a look at your blog, it looks lovely! will be following :) xxx
ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree more about the YSL lippies. It's far too creamy, clings to all the dry skin on my lips and I have to constantly check that it hasn't found it's way onto my teeth for the gazillionth time! I bought lingerie pink after all the hype and it doesn't suit me at all :( Makes a fab blusher though - give that a try! xo
ReplyDeleteBrilliant! Thanks for that, will defo be trying that tomorrow! :) x
ReplyDeleteCongrats on starting your new blog!!! i really like the color of the YSL lipstick. i'm a sucker for anything pink!
